Careers in LNG New Building

Steel Ship's LNG division is looking for competent and motivated people to join their team to manage and supervise the design and construction of the LNG vessels. The Site Manager will report to Head Office. In addition the new building supervision team will shortly request the following engineering competencies: Electro & automation, Regasification process-, Structural- and Cryogenic Engineering.

The candidate should be very conversant with Ship / offshore structures and should have excellent ACAD skills. Should have experience in Ship 3D software like FORAN / TRIBON will be an advantage. The expertise in gas tanker design will be a plus. The candidate must have excellent English language proficiency and able to communicate with others.

Naval Architects- Ship Design
Job Description

The candidate will be required to do Lines Plan, Hull Fairing, Naval Architectural Calculations, Stability Calculations, General Arrangement, Space layouts, Resistance, Powering calculations, and basis design calculations. The candidate will interact with Clients, Classification and Statutory bodies and Vendors in the process of design.

Desired Profile

The candidate should be a qualified naval architect with Bachelors and or with Masters Degree in a Ship design centre Design office or Shipyard. He/she should be conversant with Ship Classification Rules and IMO Rules. Good Skills in ACAD, Naval Architecture Calculation Software are essential. The candidate should have a sufficient working experience and should be confident of working independently. The ideas to invent and design energy efficient ships will be a plus. Fresh graduates can be considered as Trainee. Cavitation Tunnel

Offshore Projects

These roles involve either hands on commissioning or general service and maintenance works at marine sites like remote shipyard locations or in offshore sites throughout your specified tenure.

Working with OEM/ Maker software, client demonstrations and relevant paperwork could also be part of the role.

Applications are welcome from engineers with specific knowledge of working in a commissioning or servicing role within the new ship building or offshore controls industry.

An electrical & electronics engineering qualification is preferred. You must have previously worked with any of the following systems: Trend, Satchwell, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Andover, Cylon, TAC, Siemens ABB, Kongsberg, SAM electronics, TOKIMEC, NORCONTROL but not limited these..

Site Manager
Requirements: :
  • Degree and/ or diploma in any Engineering disciplines from any recognized university.
  • Minimum of 10 Years relevant Working Experience with 5 years spent in Project management
  • Well-Versed in Project Management and in Shipbuilding Construction.
  • Able to manage and Lead a Team during Project Execution.

In this role candidate will be responsible for managing the project execution at the shipyard and ensure the delivery of safe and timely new build vessels owned or managed by Steel Ships.

Candidate will be responsible for day to day operations at the site specifically the main tasks are:

  • Ensure that the vessels are built according to specification and in good quality to general shipbuilding practice
  • Be Thorough with IACS 47, MARPOL, and SOLAS requirements
  • Ensure that the head office feels properly supported during building of the vessels
  • Assist in review of plans and equipment with ship designer, yard, Class and New building department in Copenhagen
  • Attend to FAT test etc. when required
  • Prepare new building vessel delivery in coordination with the HO
  • Ensure that proper records for all new building are maintained and submitted to vessel, Head office at the completion
  • Ensure sufficient, competent and cost efficient supervision team at the yard
  • Report weekly and daily about building progress to Head Office
  • Ensure analyze and report non-conformities on a daily basis from the site team, and follow up
  • Plan the scheduled deliveries of the vessel
  • Should demonstrate the clear ownership of the project
  • Administration of office expenses and activities of site team
  • Plan and ensure that the onsite inspections and tests are carried out satisfactorily.
  • Degree in Naval Architecture (preferred)/ Marine Engineering
  • Systematic and capable of handling the documentation during building ship building
  • Hands-on and interested in ensuring the ships are built to the right quality
  • Committed to meeting deadlines, budgets and the expectations from the global organization
  • Good at keeping focus on complex issues and enjoy taking ownership and responsibility
  • Outgoing and capable of handling internal and external stakeholders
  • Thrives in a dynamic, international environment
  • High levels of record keeping skills
  • Sailing experience preferred by not must.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in new building of cargo (mainly LNGC, Crude tankers, LPG, Bulkers, Car Carriers, RoPax, Livestock carriers) and passenger vessels from Yard, Classification Society or Owner and upto 5 yrs in the role of Site Manager.

Machinery Inspectors- New Buildings
Requirements: :
  • Degree in relevant discipline.
  • Class I Chief Engineers license
  • Good Machinery commissioning experience
  • ME, RT Flex engine Experience will be interesting
  • Good know how on shaft alignment
  • Good understanding related to Statuatory requirments for machinery installation
Machinery Inspector Marine Engineer - Gas Tanker Projects
Requirements: :
  • Degree in Marine Engineering
  • Class I Chief Engineers Licence
  • ME-GI or XDF Engine Installation Experience
  • Cargo Machinery Comissioning experience is neccessary in such as Hamworthy (Wartsilla), LGE Babcock
  • Good Understanding of Fuel Gas Systems
  • Minimum of 5 Years working Experience in Shipbuilding Industry
  • Experience in Gas Trials and Sea Trials
  • Gas Tanker Experience is a MUST
Cryogenic Engineering LNG
Requirements: :
  • Degree in relevant dicipline.
  • Minimum of 5 Years working Experience in Shipbuilding Industry with 2 years spent in design office.
  • Should be able to carry out block inspections independently
  • Should be able to do Piping, NDT inspections
NDT & Dimension Controllers
Requirements: :
  • Degree in Naval Architectural, Marine Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation engineering or other related engineering disciplines from any recognized university
  • Experience in Shipbuilding industry.
  • World renowned NDT, Welding inspections certifications such as from AWS, ASME or TWI
Hull Piping & Machinery Supervisor
Requirements: :
  • Degree/Certificate from a technical college or Polytechnic
  • Minimum of 5 Years working experience in Shipbuilding Industry with 2-3 years spent in supervisory level.
  • For Supervisor – HULL Position, Candidates must be well versed in various welding methods and NDT requirements.
  • For Supervisor – Piping Mechanical Position, Candidates who have experience in HVAC installation will have an added advantage.
  • Solid experience in pipe pressure testing, and piping system check.
Electrical/Instrumention Engineers
Requirements: :
  • Diploma and/or Certificate in Electrical/Instrumentation drafting or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 Years working Experience in Shipbuilding Industry in design / drawing in Shipbuilding Industry.
  • Conversant with IEC regulations with ships and marine structures
  • Able to survey Electrical Installations and HVAC
Paint Inspector
Requirements: :
  • Certificate in Painting QC an added advantage such as FROSIO ( Red ) or NACE III
  • Experience in similar work or with major paint manufacturers will be an added advantage
Responsibilities:

Inspection of surface preparation and painting procedures, ensure quality meets Client’s requirement and most important must be acceptable by Client;

Prepare inspection report
Coordination work for quality meeting
Assist in establishing and implementing procedures / programs for maintaining high standard of painting / spraying operations, product quality and reliability etc. High temperature
